Photographer provider
Employed by a company (or more) or public services, the provider produces reports and other work shooting. The subjects are imposed here, and the creative aspect is slightly less present (although still very important). Depending on the terms of his contract, the provider photographer (sometimes called independent) performs a particular type of work, which may also affect the commercial field and relational.
Press photographer
The press photographer, also known photojournalist, working exclusively for news agencies and the media. It is usually a journalist by training, and has a press card (hard enough to get: press photography sometimes resembles an obstacle course ...). Photographs of "people" are those that relate more today in this business, but many alternatives exist (particularly among newspapers, the magazines, etc.)..

hoto lab technician

The photo lab technician performs processing tasks (developing, printing, finishing) pictures needed for the realization of photographic prints. He works on automatic machines, mainly digital, he must master the operation. That's why this job usually requires prior training (BTS CAP or type) and it is difficult to "improvise" in this area ...

Finisher, sensitometry controller calibrator-filtering ...

There are many other professions in the world of photography, it would be impossible to present exclusively in this folder. Examples:
    • the job of retouching, which is to improve the negative reversal or more generally today's digital files to correct artifacts or to change the look of the photographs;
    • the job of sensitometric controller, which is responsible for checking and trimming devices development and photo printing for optimum quality of work;
    • the calibrator-screener, whose role is to determine the density corrections and color to make the events business (this business today tends to lose with the democratization of digital ...).
As you probably guessed, salaries vary greatly from "business" to another, from one sector to another laboratory, office, press, magazines ...

The average salary for photographers in France would, according to some studies, 17% higher than the minimum wage. If the lab technician earns around 1300 euros gross per month, the fashion photographer or landscape can reach for the top, much higher amounts (copyrights, advertising, etc..).
Keep in mind nonetheless that the salary is not usually the clincher (far from it) when you became a photographer. However, the quality of life is quite nice.
