Education,  Schools, Degrees

Are you a student, college student, high school student or adult already entered the workforce? Want to become a professional photographer and are looking for a degree or training to become a photographer?
Several options are available to you for your curriculum photographer

Become a photographer, with or without a diploma ...

One fact is often overlooked by beginners:
Anyone can become a professional photographer, graduate or not. Talent and a huge motivation "enough."
Of course, this is always a plus to have studied to become a photographer ... CAP or any other degree is not a requirement if not qua non for becoming a photographer. Of course, this only applies if you already know how to make pictures that you master the technique, you are able to prove your skills as a photographer by your experience and work ... There are actually many, many specialties as a photographer, some demanding qualifications, others are not. Let's check these different business image.
The term "photographer" actually includes many different realities, many trades and professions who may not have much to do with one another! Your curriculum photographer may lead you to one of these trades.
    • Art photographer
    • provider Photographer
    • Press Photographer
    • Photo Lab Technician
    • Finisher, econometrics controller calibrator-filtering ...
Shooting full is actually few jobs. The majority of professional photographers (about 90%) practicing in the laboratory, in different sectors: advertising, media, scientific photography, architecture ...

Art photographer

Creative and innovative, art photographer seeks to recreate the subjects he photographs (landscapes, models, dishes ...) original and artistic way. This is one of the sectors most prominent in the world of photography, but also a more complicated because some elected officials can actually live this activity. If Philip Plisson Yann Arthus-Bertrand and are doing very well (and even better than that ...), many still struggling at the end of the month and must necessarily have recourse to ancillary activities (web design, wedding photo, reports etc..) to live.
Note: Other trades photographer, presented below, are also generally, of course, call for an artistic sense ...
Photographer provider
Employed by a company (or more) or public services, the provider produces reports and other work shooting. The subjects are imposed here, and the creative aspect is slightly less present (although still very important). Depending on the terms of his contract, the provider photographer (sometimes called independent) performs a particular type of work, which may also affect the commercial field and relational.
Press photographer
The press photographer, also known photojournalist, working exclusively for news agencies and the media. It is usually a journalist by training, and has a press card (hard enough to get: press photography sometimes resembles an obstacle course ...). Photographs of "people" are those that relate more today in this business, but many alternatives exist (particularly among newspapers, the magazines, etc.)..

hoto lab technician

The photo lab technician performs processing tasks (developing, printing, finishing) pictures needed for the realization of photographic prints. He works on automatic machines, mainly digital, he must master the operation. That's why this job usually requires prior training (BTS CAP or type) and it is difficult to "improvise" in this area ...

Finisher, sensitometry controller calibrator-filtering ...

There are many other professions in the world of photography, it would be impossible to present exclusively in this folder. Examples:
    • the job of retouching, which is to improve the negative reversal or more generally today's digital files to correct artifacts or to change the look of the photographs;
    • the job of sensitometric controller, which is responsible for checking and trimming devices development and photo printing for optimum quality of work;
    • the calibrator-screener, whose role is to determine the density corrections and color to make the events business (this business today tends to lose with the democratization of digital ...).
As you probably guessed, salaries vary greatly from "business" to another, from one sector to another laboratory, office, press, magazines ...

The average salary for photographers in France would, according to some studies, 17% higher than the minimum wage. If the lab technician earns around 1300 euros gross per month, the fashion photographer or landscape can reach for the top, much higher amounts (copyrights, advertising, etc..).
Keep in mind nonetheless that the salary is not usually the clincher (far from it) when you became a photographer. However, the quality of life is quite nice.

Learning from failed pictures

When taking pictures and they are missed, we tend to keep them to yourself or to forget, and this is after all quite natural. With almost instant viewing snapshots allowed by the digital cameras, and despite the excessive storage space offered by the memory cards, some even missed just delete their pictures after taking them.

But take advantage of these failures can progress.

Miss, or not ... I find a few causes why it is interesting to keep all the photos that we have the opportunity to take over an output.

Firstly, in order to take time quietly watching his shots and analyze the reasons that one of them is missing (or successful). It does not replace the control in the heat of the action or automation that can be acquired with experience, but it is important to understand some particular aspects that go beyond the "simple" camera shake or overexposure.

Secondly, because the screen of a camera can be misleading, and that it is better able to judge the success of a picture on a screen worthy of the name. And even a photo would be missed, a portion will be usable anyway. With the power of today's sensors, it would be surprising not to crop an image.
Speaking of image processing, most of the software we use today are able to play with the brightness, contrast, etc.. Why not try to "catch" a failed photo?

With digital cameras, we took the reflex to look at our shots just after taking. Some children have never even seen anything other than NPC and are quite surprised when they come across a film camera. On an SLR, this allows instant viewing to know quickly if you have selected the right settings, and thus avoids wasting sockets for anything on film.
Overexposed

A photo that could have been successful if it was not overexposed
But it is easily tempted to remove a failed photo, certainly remember the first camera on which the memory (internal or external) was much more limited than today, and where few megabytes by removing earned to blur or overexposed proved very useful.

When the blithely exceeds ten gigabytes on an SD card, the need for storage capacity is no longer an excuse. Should we speak of shame, or stupidity, when you remove too hastily failures clichés?

Successful holiday photos

The variety of photos, brightness, viewing angle, the picture quality and other criteria will make your vacation a photo album pretty successful. Your photos are all alike, you do not have the soul of a photographer, and you need some advice? Follow us.

Explore the mysteries of your camera

Your digital camera certainly offers different modes or "scenes" such as: sports, landscape, portrait, sunset, fireworks, macro, etc.. Select one of these methods to receive automatic settings that are preset in your camera.

You want to take the mountain in the distance, it is better to select the "landscape" mode. If your camera mode "macro" (which allows you to take flowers or other small objects up close), the mountain may be blurred!

How to take great vacation photos: framing and angle.

Aim and press a small button is for everyone. But what exactly are we looking for? Exactly: vary. You do not have to always focus element to take pictures in the middle of the frame.

If you take a picture of a person, it's better that it occupies the whole picture, rather than seeing a big empty space above his head. Do not be afraid to zoom in, and off center!

As for the angle of view in the face, a little inclined profile, diving, scuba-cons ... everything is possible, but the result is not always convincing. Generally, pictures of people or landscapes are more advantageous when the photographer takes the height .

Photos calculated or candid shots?

With a digital SLR camera, no need to ask, and stuck his smile for long seconds before seeing the flash. The candid shots are very successful. If you have a powerful zoom, take your friends by surprise, since the other end of the room, natural.

The candid shots are often more original: you let an unexpected margin and you'll surprises when you upload your photos on the computer.

The perfect mix between the calculated and spontaneous picture may be ... the timer. First, it is an extra tip for that one track (finally) the photographer in the picture. Why use the timer? The photo is not actually controlled at the level of framing for example, and the people photographed do not always have the notion of the countdown ... Said like that, it is not very convincing. But in fact, it can give very successful pictures, full of laughter and complicity. The waiting, the excitement of the photo, or the photographer who stumbles current join his friends are moments to capture.

Whether calculated or spontaneous, there is especially a lot of things to photograph. From the hotel to the base of the restaurant, with nice legs of a house at the foot of the crowd downtown, etc.

Extras advice

One of the best times to take pictures successful, it is late afternoon or evening, before sunset. The lighting is beautiful, and not dazzling sun. In general, the outdoor photos without flash are easier to control.

Last thing, be careful not to live your holiday ticking, i.e. only once you see the pictures you have taken. Memories are also in the head, and not on the pictures.
